You are thirteen months old now and really have a lot to say!! New words seem to pop out of your mouth on a daily basis. Many of them only make sense to you though, but with practice you sometimes say a new word that does! Apple, bear, toes, cheese, gentle and pretty are a few of the newest ones that we can actually understand. You say Thank You quite often and on your own at appropriate times now, which is really neat! You still have a great love of books and when mommy counts the doggies in the book you 'count along' in your baby language. You also say 'woof woof' to them as well. You love to go for walks and explore the world, and pick up different treasures along the way. Your favourites being either a small stick or a pine cone. We take you to the park and your favourite thing to do still is to go on the swing. A sure way to get a great big smile out of you. Silly things make you laugh now, like wiggling a teddy bear near your face and making funny sounds seems rather hilarious to you. You love to turn things off and on, like light switches and the TV. You are still learning the word no and often when we say that dreaded word, you laugh and run away. You had your first time out this month, and had to spend one minute in the pink chair for repeated hitting one of Angela's friends. You were not being very gentle at all. You like to let us know when you want something with what Daddy calls your fake cry. You make this cry sound when you want something either you cant reach, or not allowed to have. Its cute, but getting rather old!! You still like to make funny faces at yourself in a mirror and sometimes fight us when we put you in the stroller as you would much rather walk, then ride. Who could blame you when there is so much to see in the world. You run to the window and mommy will lift you up so you can see the garbage truck lift the big containers to empty them. This is very facinating to you and wave bye to the truck when it leaves.
Grandma and Grandpa found you a toy box to hold all your toys and it helps to have a cleaner living room. Its a neat game for you to pick up the toys and toss them into it, but much more fun to empty it. You love all foods except ketchup and only have two bottles a day now. We took the night time bottle away and you dont seem to notice. You like your cup with the straw much better than the sippy cups though, and also can say 'ba ba' for bottle.
You discovered your bedroom now, and we can safely allow you to play in it as mommy baby proofed it for you. We bought you a kitchen set which you like to play with by opening and closing the doors. Not quite a chef yet, but you dont have a frying pan, or play food either. Something to think about for Christmas presents this year.

Your birthday has come and past!! You are now one years old!! We had a big party to celebrate and family and friends came bearing presents and food! Mommy made you a pretty bow for your hair and a special dress was picked out just for the occasion. There was also a t-shirt and shorts to wear later that had ''birthday girl" and a picture of a birthday cake on the front. I will keep that stuff so you can use it possibly for the little girl you may have one day. I have a special box of things that we will keep especially for you to look through and share with your children when you grow. Its strange to be talking about these things when you are just one years old!!
Here is a list of the guests and the gifts they brought for our special girl:
Mommy and Daddy: We got you a Leap Frog game for the TV that teaches you things, but gave it to you when you were nine months old. We also got you a big red ride on car that you just love to ride around in with Daddy's help. We also got you the pretty dress and outfit for your special day.
Grandma and Grandpa: Got you a really neat table and chair set with matching umbrella for in the yard. Grandma made you a incredibly beautiful sweater which mommy will keep for you as well. It has a farm scene and although its a bit big for you, it will fit by winter.
Antie Anita and Uncle Ken: Antie Anita gave you the very special gift of becoming your Grandma and in the Native Culture you will grow and call her "Gea"
Uncle Brad and Auntie Cheryl, Bradly and Cory: Gave you a new dolly, which you love. A really cute Winnie the Pooh outfit, teddy bear and some small toys to play with in the pool outside. They also gave you a collection of music cds for your player.
Auntie Sue and Jack: Gave you two balls, one a huge Winnie the Pooh one and a smaller one with Care Bears on it. They also gave you a collection of music cds for your player.
Angela, Paul, Maddison, McKenzie, Logsn and Kennedy: Gave you two pairs of shorts with matching shirts and a pair of Pj's.
Its been a busy month for our 12 month old! You bring us your toys now for us to play with you. This is a great game and your favourite toy is this plastic book that when opened plays songs and tells stories. Another Grandma and Grandpa gift! You also like to look at yourself in the mirror again and make funny faces at yourself. You wave bye bye at people really good now and blow kisses with your hand on your mouth. You said a few new words like shoes, which is your favourite word. You are only a year old and you already love shoes! Must be a woman thing. On August 16th you said 'shit' which shocked your Daddy. Daddy dropped something and said "Oh shit" which you kindly repeated, then Daddy called mommy at work to tell me the news. It was pretty funny.
On the 19th you had to have four needles! Oh you cried so much it just broke my heart. Daddy couldnt be in the room while you were getting the shots. We got you weighed and you weigh 21 lbs 9 oz and 30 inches tall!! You are soooo tall Carly!

You are now 11 months old!
Its been a very busy month for this little one of ours. It seems everyday you have a new tooth and now have four molars, four teeth on top and three on bottom. You are a very busy little girl and are quite adamant about the things you want and dont want and protest quite loudly when things dont go just the right way for you. Its quite cute actually, and can be diverted easily by a toy you particularly like. Your favourites this month being this cube by Fisher Price that Grandma bought for you. It has many blocks that you like to shake around and bang on things. You like to press the button on top and make it play music as well. Your all time favourite thing to do is to give kisses to your big blue teddy bear and dolly the most though and will say "awwww" while giving most generous soggy kisses. Sometimes mommy, daddy and Angela are blessed with those very special kisses as well and never fail to make us smile. We just love you so much Carly and are a big part of our lives. You love your books and will look at the pictures now and talk about them and still enjoy your piano but are starting to move on to better things. You also love to play in your pool and splash around in it until you are shivering and cry when its time to take it away.
Some very important milestones happened this month as well. You decided on July 24th that you were tired of crawling and popped right up on your feet and started to walk!! Its just the cutest thing we have ever saw and Daddy was so proud he had tears in his eyes. Another thing thats cute is that when you fall on your bum, you sometimes say 'ouch'. You are starting to speak more and say "whatssat" at many things. You still squeal loudly to get attention when people are talking and not looking or talking to the princess.

By the time....
you read this you will not be in the crib anymore, but in a bed that has been transformed, but if you feel the footboard you will be able to feel the teeth marks you have left there from a long time ago. You decided that just laying around isnt fun anymore and on May 17th (Uncle Allen's birthday) I found you standing up in the crib. You were incredibly proud of yourself and by the 24th you were cruising furniture and chewing on the coffee table and anything else you could put in your mouth. This is the month you learn the word 'no'. You can turn on and off the TV and change the channel on the box. This is great fun for you!
You love to climb things and have never gotten stuck and are able to plop down on your bum again with no problem. You can climb onto your plastic ride on toy, but cant seem to get off without falling. On the first of June you started to crawl for the first time and are very quick to get into things. I woke up with you this morning to find a new tooth had popped its way in. Your top right tooth is looking good and maybe with its arrival you will stop chewing your crib and the coffee table.
You are finding a lot of your toys to be boring now. Rattles just dont do a thing for you anymore. You still really love your piano and climb up on it and dance to the music you make. We sing "If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands" and you clap your hands. You can also wave bye bye when you are in just the right mood. You love books and other toys that make noise but you love to play in your little plastic pool full of water the most. You splash and laugh and climb out of the pool onto the grass and back into the pool again. You just love to be outside. We take you to the park and you just love to see the other kids and try to get their attention by squealing. You do however, make strange to other men. You cry quite loudly and reach for mommy or daddy when a male that you dont know tries to play with you. You still charm the dickens out of women and children though. With those funny faces and a smile that will melt anyones heart, no one can help to have their day brightened when you bless them. You are also afraid of any loud noises like the vacuum cleaner or paper shredder.

Time flies....
and now you are nine months old. So much has changed in this short month. The weather is getting warmer and you love to be outside. It was nice at the beginning of the month when we would put you outside in the bumbo on a blanket and would play with Angela with the toys, but now you can get yourself out of the bumbo and try very hard to eat the grass. You are so quick now and almost crawling! You get up on all fours and rock back and forth, but still prefer to scooch along by pushing one leg on the floor and kinda dragging yourself along. We have to baracade you in as you are so quick you sometimes get yourself into trouble with wires and such from the TV etc. You are trying very hard to climb up on furniture too! You almost climbed up onto your piano and when Angela held up to it you played and squealed very happily. When she put you down on your bum again, you cried and fussed as you wanted to stand. Your jumperoo is getting boring as its too confining.
You are saying more sounds now too! You still say Da da over and over again, but now say Annala for Angela, and nana for banana. You will say mum mum, but only when you are hurt and crying and want me to hold you. You sometimes wave byebye and are just learning this
You also got a top tooth this month as well! (Top left) Busy month for Carly thats for sure. Your favourite game is escaping our little confinement we made for you in the living room and when we go chase you, you laugh and squeal in delight, but dont cry when we put you back because you know you can just escape again. You also love it when Angela holds your hands and walks around the house with you. You step while Angela counts and the highest she has gotten so far is twenty two before you get bored and want to do something else. You still love music and will now sing along with it and rock back and forth to dance. This is just incredible to watch and we look forward to the time you do this. Daddy holds you upside down and gives you upside down kisses now and you think this is great fun. You will lean forward to go from person to person to get them to hold you and from time to time will actually put your arms up for someone to pick you up.
You really hate babyfood so we just feed you whatever we eat for meals now. Your favourite still being banana's. You also love pasta and tomato sauce. You are eating a baby buscuit right now and really enjoying it.
You cry when you dont get your way sometimes now and your personality is starting to shine. You smile and laugh most times and love attention so much you scream really loud if no one is giving you any while in the stroller in the mall etc. You love to be part of the conversation too and will talk and babble very loudly just to make sure everyone hears your opinion.
Daddy sent a birthday invitation to the family that I want to post here for you to see. He also attached a picture of you sitting outside in the yard. Its very cute and original... We are moving to Langley on the first of June and there is a nice yard for us to have a party in and we are looking forward to getting you a swing, which is another thing you love to do.

The above message was typed by Carly this morning around 8 am with her own unique brand of slap hand typing which is really something neat when it doesn't crash Daddy's computer... I will translate for you.
I'm Carly, I'm going to be 9 months in at the end of the month. I started to say Da Da a few days ago (Daddy says at 3:25pm on April 15th to be exact) this seems to make Daddy & Mommy very happy so I humor them by saying it a lot.. they are so easy to amuse. Now they want me to say Mum Ma too & I am working on that.
I have a Big Sister Angela who plays with me a lot, she makes funny faces and likes to change me sometimes too as long as I don't have a poopy :) Yesterday Angela and her friend Selina were playing in the back yard and I sat out there with them and took in some sunshine. I like Selina a lot and always smile when she comes over and always cry when she walks away from me. Sometimes Angela will even let me play with her Bratz dolls!
Some of my favorite things are:
Cream of Wheat cereal
Bananas
Pasta with tomato sauce when Mommy will let me have a little
Ice Cream, but Mommy always tells Daddy not to give me too much
My scrunchie Winnie the Poo book that Auntie Cheryl gave me
My Winnie the Poo spinning top
My piano or any other toy that makes noise
My Pink toy cellphone
Having a bath with Mommy
Mirrors
The bows Mommy makes me
Having my picture taken
Eating my shoes when Mommy & Daddy aren't looking ( they always catch me though and I giggle when they say "No No")
Things I don't like:
Wearing socks
Being on the change table too long, hurry up will ya
Most baby food... well except fruits or Peas & Carots they are nummy
People who ignore me when they walk by me in my stroller, the nerve of them... when they do this I make sure I get their attention by making loud noises which translate to "hey look at me, look at me" and when they do I always give them a big bright smile so they can tell me how cute I am.
Other things about me:
I am 18lbs & 28 inches tall
I get around mostly by creeping and rolling around the floor, I don't quite know how to crawl yet but I think I just about get the idea... anytime now
I can sit up for a long time on my own
Mommy puts my toy box on the floor and I can reach in and pull out my favorite toys
When I hear music I rock back and forth to the beat
Mommy & Daddy will hold me standing on their laps and I dance when they say "Dancey Dancey"
I also can sit down and then pull myself back up when Mommy & Daddy hold my hands
I always sleep through the night & I wake up happy each morning which for some reason amazes Mommy & Daddy
I get cranky mostly only when I am tired and need my nap
I'm going to be one years old on August 1st and I am going to have a big party and want everyone to come!
Bye for now....
Love Carly Ann Chadsey

Happy 8 months!
You woke up wet right through this rainy birthday but with the biggest smile on your face! I got you all washed up and changed and fed you your breakfast and are now looking through the photo album with Daddy.
Many changes have happened in your life since I've written here last. You are sitting up very well now and only fall over after trying to reach for a toy thats out of your reach. You catch yourself and don't bonk your head much now. You are getting very strong. You stand up on my lap and while holding my hands you rock back and forth and dance. Mommy sings 'dancie dancie' and you smile wide and dance some more. You also will sit down when mommy says sit down and stand up when I say stand up. Sometimes you give me a smoochie when you stand all the way up again. You love this game and will play it until you are too tired to stand up anymore. You creep really well while on your belly on the floor when your toy is out of reach and its something you really want. You lift one leg and push with your foot. Daddy said you almost went from your belly to sitting up yesterday, but got distracted and plopped back down again.
We got you weighed yesterday and you weight 18lbs 5oz! Mommy, Daddy and Angela played a guessing game before you got weighed to see who was closest. Mommy guessed 17lbs 9oz, Angela said 18lbs even and Daddy was the winner at 18lbs 2oz. I was surprised you put on so much weight since your needles a few weeks ago.
You sleep so good still and will go to bed with no fuss about 8-9 pm every night and on rare occasions you are awake when mommy gets home from work at 10pm. Its a nice surprise when you are up and wanting to cuddle with mommy. You are such a happy baby! Your favourite toys right now are your mirror which you go to bed with each day for naps and at night when you fall asleep. You really like to look at yourself and make funny faces. You still like the jumperoo but are tending to prefer to roll around on the floor with your small mountain of toys now and can get around pretty quick and keep us chasing you as you spot something farther and farther away. Another game you really like is to make silly faces at Daddy. You scrunch up your face and breathe funny like and make us all laugh. You mostly just make funny faces at Daddy though, but thats because he seems to really enjoy teaching you how to make them! HAHA!!!
We took you to the park for a picnic this past week when the weather was warmer and you played in the gravel for the first time. You sat and picked up the tiny rocks and let them fall between your fingers to the ground again. You were so enthralled with this that you didn't even try to put them in your mouth. Daddy took some pictures of you and you looked so sweet. I also put you on the slide for the first time, but your leg kept twisting around and you didn't like it much. We did get some pictures of you though. You really love the swing at the park too, but at this particular park there was no baby swing so you sat on our laps and swung that way. Daddy rides you on his neck sometimes now and you just love love this! You think you are on top of the world and we snapped a cute picture of you reaching for a tree branch. You like to pull Daddy's hair and eat it though, so your time on top of the world is shortlived. You sit in your stroller and are noticing the world around you so much more and will reach for things in the stores and sometimes will catch a sleeve of a shirt or something else close. You also love to pull off your shoes and socks and for some reason they seem to be pretty tasty. Im not sure why though.

Wow....
it's been awhile since mommy has written in your blog! Its been a very busy month since Ive been here last, not to mention the computer died.
You have grown so much this past month my chicka. So tall!! You wear size 12 month clothing still and wear size 2 shoes. Winter is almost over and mommy is looking forward to taking you outside more to try out those big girl shoes! We took you out the other day and you touched a tree while mommy explained to you what that was and what it felt like. You smiled and grunted your approval.
You were sick awhile after your shots on March 12th. You weighed 17lbs 12oz already. You didnt cry until the second shot which stung a bit. You ended up with a fever and a rash that turned into a bit of hives. Poor baby! You were so grumpy and kept us all busy with the many many poopie diapers and 'blowouts'. It was nice to see you feeling better after a week. We took you to the Dr. and he said you had a stomach virus.
You are sitting up better now, I think you could probably say that you officially sit up by yourself now, but not for that long before you fall over. Its hard to write down the exact time you sit as you do sit, but fall over quickly yet are now trying to catch yourself a bit more. You really enjoy your piano now and sit there and play us a nice tune in your bumbo.
We are still working hard to get you to say either mama or dada, but no such luck. Daddy does something pretty funny though and you copy him. He will tap his chest and say da da and you hit him back, then he says mama and you hit me twice too. You will know your syllables before you talk! You made mommy's heart just melt the other night Carly. I was holding you on my lap with your face close to mine and showing you dolly. Mommy gave dolly a kiss, then dolly gave mommy a kiss. Dolly gave Carly a kiss and mommy asked you for a kiss and you gave me the most precious kiss! Oh my heart just melted and I almost teared up! You give us kisses from time to time but are rather cheap with them haha! So its pretty special when you do. You were having tummy time with Daddy lastnight and honored him with FOUR kisses!
We are going to have a big birthday party for your number one this year. It will be in August of course so the weather will be nice and warm. Mommy wants to buy you a special dress for the occasion and have plans for family members to attend. We are giving them a ton of notice so we are really hoping they can all come. We already bought your birthday present already! We got you "Little Leaps" Its a game that hooks up to the TV and you push buttons to do different things, like make a birdie appear or a bunny jump. Things like that. Daddy hooked it up the night we bought it, but you are too young yet to figure it out. You just want to eat the buttons and bang on them. Its good for 9 months up to 36 months so you will have lots of good times with this game. You can also buy extra CD's for it as you grow.
You are sleeping very well for us still. There was a time there when you would freak out when we put you to bed as the world was boring in your crib so mommy put a few toys in there with you and a mirror which you love to look at. Thats because you are so beautiful!! You dont even fuss anymore and soon go to sleep. Grandpa and Grandma gave you a CD player and we bought a few CD's with classical music which lulls you to sleep quickly. We also have the one that tells a story and sings songs that Grandma bought for you when she went to Las Vegas. It has your name in the songs and you think thats pretty neat.
You still enjoy your sister time and love it when she plays with you on the floor with your mountain of toys. Sometimes you will honor her with kisses too! Seriously, we have to stop buying you toys as you have taken over the living room! There is your jumperoo at one end of the living room, the swing sits to the side, which you love to sit in and watch Treehouse from time to time. There is a big blanket on the floor with pillows all around to keep you safe where we lay you with some toys. You have your own drawer full of rattles and things and on top of the coffee table sits your bigger toys, like the piano and stuffies.
We are so blessed to be chosen to raise such a lovely beautiful little girl. Your personality is so genuine and you always have a smile for everyone! We are truely honored.

Yet another tooth!
Its official, you dont have a tooth anymore, you now have teeth!! Your bottom right/front tooth came in this afternoon just when mommy was wondering why you were so cranky. You got happy later on in the afternoon when the tooth finally popped through. We took you shopping this afternoon and got you three pairs of pj's and some food/formula. I stopped breastfeeding you a few days ago as you just wont stop biting and now that you have these very sharp teeth, I think its time.
You are really enjoying time on the floor now. We put huge blankets on the floor and you roll around and play with your toys and squeal and talk to everyone. Your favourite 'toy' is your shoes though and you can actually chew slight pieces off them so now we have to be careful which shoes we put on you. You still love the jumperoo and with mommy working nights again, daddy feeds and plays with you. You so love your daddy and you especially love it when he plays on the floor with you. You also like to sit in your swing and daddy will put treehouse on for you and you like that.
You are starting to sit up abit now, but fall over after about 10 seconds. Mommy uses a pillow behind you so you dont bang your head. You love to sit up and play your piano and when you fall over you kick the keys with your feet and think this is pretty funny.
You are quite the social butterfly when we take you out anywhere now. You love to squeal to get someones attention now and then your face just lights up and you delight them with this huge smile that reaches ear to ear. Everyone who sees you just thinks you are so adorable! Of course you are adorable, so no arguments there. Your bows look so cute in your hair, which is growing quite fast and we wonder what color it will be. Daddy thinks blond and mommy thinks your hair will be light brown.
We have been trying to think of the many many names we have for you as pet names and its funny the names we have. Daddy calls you Charlie Chadskey when we dress you up in blue jeans and its so cute!

New tooth!
On February 6th you were the proud owner of a brand new shinny baby toothie! It was on the lower left side and oh so pretty! Its nice to see you less cranky with the coming of that tooth, as it was so sad to see you unhappy. It hurts to get teeth! Mommy bought you a new toothbrush just for you with a tiny tube of baby toothpaste. You like to brush your new tooth and we are waiting for the arrival of tooth number two so you can brush two teeth!
You are really working on your fine motor skills this week. Trying to pick up the button on mommy's shirt and sometimes get frusterated when you cant get it. The concentration is unbelievable and the look on your face is priceless.
There is some other adjusting to do this week for miss princess Carly as mommy went back to work and you are not used to daddy and sister taking care of your needs. It took a few fussy days to adjust, but all is well now and you are a happy girl with spending lots of time with daddy and sister. One day daddy is going to bring you to work and you will ride the bus with mommy driving. I think you will enjoy that.
Its Valentines Day today and mommy has you dressed in a cute shirt with a heart on the front and red corderoy pants with hearts on the knees. We didnt get you a Valentine present because you are unable to have chocolate yet. You are now down for your nap and all is quiet in the house.
You still love your jumperoo and squeal with delight when daddy puts Tree House on for you. You really like the shows and will sometimes watch for 1/2 hour. Daddy said you complained the other night when one of the shows ended. I could hear you over the phone.
Daddy wants to take mommy out for a Valentines lunch when you wake up from your nap. We will see how long you sleep for as mommy has to work this afternoon. Its a longer shift so we will see how you do today. I hope you are a happy girl tonight!

Molly's Reach
Today we took a day trip over to Gibsons which is the place where they shot the TV show "The Beachcombers" Mommy and Daddy grew up watching this show and really enjoyed taking you and your sister over there today. We took a walk along the beach and took some pictures and went for a drive up island a bit for a tour. Later on we drove back to Gibsons and had a nice dinner at Molly's Reach. It was so neat to look at the old photographs of the cast of that show. Mommy took a visit there when she was young (I think around 10 or so) and there is a picture of my sister, brother and I standing in front of that restaurant. Unbelievable to go back there 35 years later with my two daughters and stand in the same spot once again. We didnt take any pictures of that spot though as it was too dark by the time we got back from our drive.
The ferry ride was only a short 40 minutes from Horseshoe bay so that was nice. I took you for a walk on the boat and showed you the sites from the windows on the boat. It was cold though and your nose was red so we didnt stay outside for long. We were disappointed when we got to the "sunshine coast" and it was cloudy and cold!!
You have been quite the grump the past week as you are really working on getting some new teeth. Your lower gums are very swollen and sooooo sore. Poor baby, it was nice to get outside today for a different view of the world and to take your mind off your owie mouth. You were so tired when we got home tonight you almost fell asleep in your jumperoo.
You tried a few new foods in the past few days. You tried peaches and chicken for the first time today and really liked the peaches. The chicken and veggie dish you werent too fussy about. You also ate an entire jar of custard the other day. Obviously you love that!! Your favourite food still by far is peas. You open your little bird mouth wide and fuss when mommy isnt feeding you fast enough. Mommy has also been busy making you a ton of hair bows for this summer! They look so cute on you too. Daddy says for me to tell you that its not his fault mommy makes you wear them.
You roll over both ways very well now and often roll right off your playmat. I think its time for a larger blanket so you dont get dirty on the floor. We went shopping this week and daddy wanted to buy you a pretty pink dress to wear this summer for your very first birthday. It was so pretty, but we decided to wait just a bit longer. Maybe something cuter will come along!

Holidays and milestones!
Its been awhile since Ive written in your blog Carly, mommy has been busy with you! We took a trip over to the island to see your new cousin who weighed the same as you did when you were born. Its amazing to see how much you have grown in the past almost 6 months. On our walk today I got you weighed and you now weigh 17lbs 3oz! So much has changed and its just incredible how life works. You have outgrown all your tiny stuff and wearing 12 month clothing and a few days ago Mommy and Daddy went shopping and bought you a new coat and jammies. Mommy also bought you a cute shirt that says "sisters rock" Angela really gets a kick out of it and its special when you wear it. You are sitting in your jumperoo right now wearing that shirt and a pair of jeans. So cute! You just love that jumperoo so much and it just melts my heart to watch you so happy.
We went for a long walk today as mommy wanted to buy you a grip matt for under your feeding chair as you kick around so much that you actually can get the chair to slide across the table. We want no accidents with the baby girl and this helps. You have many different foods you like now, especially bananas. You tried pears, blueberries and greenbeans as well and still dont like carrots, but will eat them as a mixed vegetable.
Your newest thing is to stand on daddy's lap and squeal at the top of your lungs. Its incredibly amazing that someone so tiny can make so much noise, but its your special time with daddy and we think its so funny. You blow bubbles and raspberries at everyone and smile to your many fans when we go out. You need to grow some more hair though as this lady thought you were a boy! I had a hat on you so it was hard to see that you were wearing earings.
We sold the pram last week, and it was so hard to see it go but you are really rolling over well and I dont want you to climb out and get hurt. You still only roll the one way though (from your back to your belly) and get really upset when you get stuck and we have to rescue you. The play mat on the floor is your great joy now as well. You sleep really well in your crib and mommy turns on your music box and gives you your suckie which you just chew on. You prefer your thumb to go to sleep with. You like to talk and babble to just about anyone who will listen and sister loves to read to you. Angela still has her time alone with you at night when she will put your jammies on. We have to put the safety belt on you now as you almost rolled off the change table.

A few new milestones...
This afternoon I decided to put you on the floor on your playmat and as I sat and watched you you went over on your side to get a toy and werent satisified with that toy and decided to roll right over! I held my breath as you did it! My baby is growing up! You looked up at me with the proudest look Ive ever seen on you!
A few days ago you had some apple juice in a bottle and sippy cup. I mixed it with half water and half apple juice so it wouldnt bother your tummy. You loved that! Slurped it right up. Today I gave you some pureed apples which you enjoyed quite abit as well. So you now eat three meals a day. Rice cereal for breakfast (about 2 tblspoons) half a jar of fruit for lunch (only apples so far) and half a jar of vegetables for dinner. You tried green beans for the first time lastnight and you liked those. You are still not that fussy about carrots so mommy isnt going to feed you those again for awhile. You like peas, squash, sweet potatoes and green beans so far.
You have been quite cranky again these past few days, mommy isnt sure why. I thought it was because of teeth coming in, but no teeth so far. I believe you were a bit constipated from the cereal so I started the apple juice sooner than I wanted to. I went to the store today to get you some prunes because I was hoping this would help. When I got home from the store you had already pooped and were quite happy again. So I asked daddy, which should be your first fruit...apples or prunes? We choose apples as you have already had apple juice so we know your tummy could handle that.
You are now asleep my sweets. Sleep has been a struggle for you as well. It took me over an hour to finally get you to sleep lastnight and you had a tough time getting to sleep for your afternoon nap as well. Just lots of crying which mommy and daddy dont allow so we pick you up and cuddle with you. Mommy let you sleep with her a bit lastnight and you drifted off with your cheek on mommy's chest. You just sighed and fell asleep: poor baby. You slept fine the entire night though and was up earlier than you usually wake up and slept in the crib during the day.

A good visit
You took a ferry ride across the water to Vancouver Island then a drive to Port Alberni where you visited your Aunties and cousins. You have a new cousin names Zoey and she is so cute! You looked at her and wanted to touch her but your not that good with gentle yet so its not a good idea just yet to play with your cousin. We left on Saturday morning and were home Sunday night. You are a real homebody and started to complain a bit as your routine was all mixed up. You were so happy to be home again to your beloved Jumperoo.
You are really working hard on your fine motor skills these past few days. You are more interested in playing with the nipple on the bottle and other smaller things. You pucker your lip out in concentration and its so neat to watch you. It takes you awhile but when you finally get what you want you look so happy. You can roll over to your side now and take a toy from beside you. You actually managed to put your own suckie in your mouth while on our walk today.
We walked down to the bus and went for a ride which you really enjoyed as you can see whats going around you. You do jump a bit when the big trucks go by still, but dont cry. Mommy bought you your very first baby doll today and you just love her!! You hug her, kiss her, chew her face and eat these little entenae that stick out of its head. Im hoping to keep this dolly for you to see when you grow up. Her name is 'dolly' and give big smiles when she is in your arms.
We are going to have to get you some new clothes soon my dear. You are growing so fast that its hard to keep up with you! You are in a small yellow sleeper with a doggy on the front that is looking pretty tight in the toes so I guess it will be the last time you wear this one. Mommy will pack it away to give to Zoey. You also had major hat head because your pink winter hat is too small as well. Mommy bought you a new one today with matching mittens. I bought it in 18-24 month size so maybe you can wear it next year too. Zoey looked so tiny next to you and she weighed the same exact weight that you did!
You are playing in your jumperoo right now and screaming at the top of your lungs which is another new thing you do. Im pretty sure daddy taught you how to do that though! You can be quite loud but oh so happy!!
You had peas and sweetpotatoes this week for your new food. You didnt like the peas that much but liked the sweetpotatoes quite abit. You also had a taste of fruit yogurt which you loved so much you were smacking your lips.

Real food!
You had carrots for the first time a few days ago and really didnt like them much. Daddy got some pretty good pictures of the yucky faces you were making. The night after you still didnt like them much so mommy wont be feeding you anymore carrots for awhile. You did enjoy the creamed corn though! Your little bird mouth was wide open for that. Too cute. You also had your very first Farley biscuit today which you really loved. What a mess though! You waved your arms around and shook your head back and forth and kicked your legs all at the same time so there was cookie everywhere.
You cough and make this choking noise this week for attention. You make these interesting noises and look for me or daddy and grin when we say "oh my goodness!" Its a game for you and one you love to play. Mommy has to stop paying you attention when you make those noises though or you will be coughing all the time and everyone will think you are sick. Its funny to hear you though.
We went for a long walk you and I today. We left the house and walked to the Health Unit where I got you weighed and measured. You are now 16lbs 3oz and 26 3/4 inches long. My big girl! After that we walked to the dollar store and bought a few things we needed, like a baby card for your new cousin Zoe who was born on December 31st. Almost a New Year baby! We also bought a few bibs for her and a book for Angela to fill out called "My sister and me" We had fun today filling that book out and now it will go into your keepsake box so you can read it when you are old enough. We left the dollar store and you were asleep by this time. This was the first walk in your big girl chair in the stroller. We took the pram part off it after Christmas and you really like it better this way so you can see things around you. You love to look at the cars driving by and jump when the big trucks zoom past. We walked over to the grocery store and mommy bought you a few more jars of baby food. Green beans and sweet potatoes this time and those Farley biscuits. We had to quickly get home after this as it was starting to rain. You woke up about half way home and whined a bit as you were starting to get hungry so you had a bottle of formula in the stroller while mommy walked.
We are going to Vancouver Island to see your new cousin tomorrow and will write how that goes. Of course we will take some pictures of you meeting her for the first time. Zoe weighed exactly the same as you did when you were born so it will be neat to see how much you have grown in the past five months. I have a few things to give the new mom from you like your bumpers, some clothing and slippers. I am giving her the breast pump too as I dont use it anymore and also the snugglie which you will be happy about as you hate that thing anyway.
Your hand reaches past the side of the pram now so its almost time for the crib. Night my darling. Mommy and Daddy love you so much
You cough and make this choking noise this week for attention.

Cranky girl!
These past few days havent been the best for you my sweets. You have been a cranky bird. I think you might be getting some teeth soon and your gums are sore. You made a lot of noises in your sleep lastnight and kept waking up daddy as he was worried about you. I hope today is better for you as it hurts me to see my baby not happy. You have been cooped up in the house as the snow is so heavy outside that mommy hasnt been able to take you for any walks, so tonight mommy took you with her and Angela for her swimming. You really enjoyed getting out in the stroller and watching sister swim. You never fussed the entire time and I think part of your fussiness was due to cabin fever. Poor baby!
Your favourite thing to do this week is to jump in the 'roo' we call it. We sing jumperoo, jumperoo!! and you laugh and jump quite well. Your toes are pointed and get that thing going pretty good and just love it so much! Maybe you will be a ballerina! You look so pretty when you jump with pointed toes. Another thing you really love is baths. We dont use the infant tub anymore as you are too big for it and you dont like it that you cant kick your feet and wave your arms around. Mommy will start swimming lessons when you are six months old! Lastnight mommy gave you a bath all by yourself for the first time in the big tub and you laughed and kicked around while sister and I talked with you.
You still blow us all raspberries and the newest thing you do is blow them while mommy is feeding you. Yesterday you sneezed while mommy was feeding you and cereal got all over the couch and mommy. You thought this was pretty funny and giggled. When mommy changes a particularly dirty diaper or you sneeze she will say "Oh my goodness!!" And you laugh so hard!
You are getting so big Carly. You have outgrown your tiny stuff. Mommy has a garbage bag full of stuff that you have outgrown already! I dont want you to grow so fast though but you are so happy that you can sit up on our lap and look around. You can shake a rattle and your favorite toy is these rings we have that have different textures. Of course they go right into your mouth for a good taste too. The swing isnt so fun for you anymore as you cant sit up it in. Now that Christmas is over and company isnt sleeping in your room anymore we are going to start your naps in your big girl bed. Daddy thinks its time to move you into the crib at nights soon and its hard on mommy as she still wants you close. Tonight I will remove the bumpers from the pram as you move around so much in there that they end up at the bottom anyway. Ahhh you are so big! So tall....I found a 12 month sized track suit in your stash of summer clothing that mommy has been gathering up at sales and it fit you! I was pretty shocked to say the least. You are only five months old and wearing a 12 month sized track suit! When did you get so big???
You are still sleeping and its almost 9 30 am and should be waking up soon and very hungry. Cereal is going quite well and you love that stuff. Angela tasted it and was grossed out haha. Soon we will start strained foods and will write here what your first vegetable was. I fed you the first cereal at night and it was just one tablespoon. You are now eating two tablespoons and in the afternoon. Everyday we move the time down a bit and when we get so that when you are eating cereal in the morning, we will introduce some vegetables in the evenings. Then when we get that down to the afternoons, we will introduce fruits which we will feed to you in the afternoons and you will get vegetables in the evenings. The idea is to feed you three times a day. Cereal in the morning, fruit in the afternoons and vegetables and eventually meats in the evenings.
Tonight you had a tiny taste of mommys dinner! You seemed more interested in playing with the spoon than actually eating any of the mashed potatoes and carrots that I put on it for you. Earlier on I gave you a large piece of cold raw carrot which you seemed to enjoy alot. I think its soothing on your gums. You are now asleep in your pram without the bumpers and are so far having a good sleep.
